Mental Health Support, Education & Connection
Supporting individuals, workplaces and the community.
From recovery focused psychosocial and therapeutic support to evidence based mental health and workplace training, our work is grounded in connection, practical support and the belief that people and communities can build resilience and thrive
Our Origins
-
In Te Reo Māori, Pakari means strength or resilience.
Inspired by New Zealand’s holistic mental health model, Pakari was founded on the belief that recovery is possible and that every person deserves the opportunity to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. -
At Pakari, our work is guided by Te Whare Tapa Whā — the house of four walls. This holistic model of wellbeing recognises the importance of caring for the mind, body, spirit and community.
-
At Pakari, we walk alongside people in their mental health journey. Our support nurtures the whole person, grounded in respect, compassion and connection.
We believe this approach works because meaningful and lasting change happens through consistent relationships, trust and practical, person centered support that meets people where they are at.
Our co-founder, Jason, trained in New Zealand’s mental health system where he developed a strong foundation in holistic, recovery oriented care. His influence continues to shape the way we work today. -
Having called Boronia home for over a decade, Jason and Bri’s connection to the local community played an important role in shaping Pakari’s early foundations. Jason was deeply connected through the Eastern Raptors social rugby club and Vic Masters Rugby where he built long standing relationships with the local community.
Jason was a co founder of Pakari and his vision for holistic mental health support continues to be the center of Pakari today.
Jason has since passed away, but his values, vision and influence remain deeply embedded in Pakari and continue to guide our work.
Brianna brings a strong foundation in corporate finance and organisational leadership, alongside a deep commitment to psychosocial safety and governance. Her experience as a volunteer Ambulance Officer in New Zealand shaped her understanding of compassion in practice which continues to inform her leadership approach today.
Under Brianna’s leadership, Pakari continues to grow as a recovery focused organisation, grounded in respect, connection and person centered care.
